| | | [GMW #875] Better World Ecology With NEW - thinking, values, objectives, preventions, behaviors, healings and institutions | Wednesday 1 February 2006, Editor: Easy | RobertMuller.org | Contact | Subscribe | Unsubscribe | | Daily Blog: English | Portuguese I Spanish | | Ending War | ~ Idea 1504 ~ 23 August 1998 Humanity has been able to progress and surmount the most incredible obstacles in evolution: the horrendous climates in cold and in hot areas, early death, wild animals, epidemics, wars after wars, conquerors, empires, colonialism, slavery, racial hatred, etc. Our conscious will for survival and progress, our learning have constantly increased, but we have also encountered new obstacles and problems to resolve in recent years. Today there is one major difference with all our past. The French historian Michelet said in the 19th century that despite Hannibal, the Romans and Napoleon crossing the Alps, the Mont Blanc had not changed a bit. Well, today this is no longer true: there is a tunnel crossing the Mont Blanc, its slopes have suffered damage as a result of climatic changes and the Winter Olympics. For the first time in human history, humans are changing substantially the Earth, its ozonosphere, atmosphere, its waters, its biosphere, its soils, its vegetal cover, its climate, its ocean currents, and are responsible for the extinction every five hours of a species which it took millions of years to form. This situation requires an entirely new thinking, new values, new objectives, new preventions new behaviors, new healings and new institutions. It also requires for the first time a sense of urgency. I urge the creation of a World Ecological Emergency Committee. The Earth Council created by the Rio de Janeiro Conference could become it. * Daily Idea Dream Topics: Peace, Idea Dreams 6001-6500, Ending War, Planet Of Hope, Religion & Spirituality |
| Robert's Golden Sayings | Do not lose hope, when you begin to write. When I read the beginning of my journal, many years ago, I feel like throwing it into the wastebasket. It seems so terribly bad! But it was my life which was concerned. With time and patience, I added beauty, corrected and improved the first days of my journal which are today one of my treasures. * There is no born writer. Shakespeare was once a child who could not write. Do not be afraid of your ‘bad style’ Continue and with time you will improve it through craftsmanship like any artist or artisan. Do not see the bad product of today but the beauty of tomorrow’s. * | My Testament to the UN -A Contribution to the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, 1995, Chapter 8 | Through multinational corporations, globalism is monopolized by the big powers and by private business. This is one more reason for a world democratic government. Nations will not disarm, because the defense of their citizens is the principal justification for their existence. If you really want disarmament on this planet, you must abolish sovereign nations or reduce their sovereignty. It is unbelievable that states, leaders and governments have not realized that we have entered a new period of history in which one realized problem after the other will face humanity and will require proper world management and an entirely new political system. * | | Dear Robert & Barbara, I've just received in the post my copy of Deepak Chopra's book 'PEACE IS THE WAY' and in one of the endorsements at the front are these words: "Someday there will be a war and no one will come." by Carl Sandburg. This has always been my dream, and that of many I guess. We just have to keep dreaming the dream. with Love, Jude Chepstow, Britain. --- Trouble creates a capacity to handle it.... meet it as a friend, for you'll see a lot of it and had better be on speaking terms with it.
