Peace

~ Idea 1634 ~ 30 December 1998

Human history proves that there are always very great barriers, obstacles to a peaceful, just and harmonious world. In the past it was feudality, then the kingdoms and the empires.

Today it is nationalism and tomorrow it will be the big, multinational companies.

It is a mistake to hope that these barriers will disappear by themselves. All human history proves that they have to be dismantled in order to be replaced by something else.

We have reached that point of modern history when both nationalisms and big, multinational corporations must be dismantled and replaced by something else.

It has to come from an outside force, a people's revolution or a revolution of the scientists, thinkers, visionaries, prophets, globalists, futurologists and synthesizers of this planet.

Robert's Golden Sayings
We need every part of capacity of our being to live a fulfilled life: body, mind, heart and soul. To neglect any of them is to diminish ourself, to commit partial suicide.
*
Ours is an epoch without a philosophy. We only study the philosophies of the past. When will a few great minds wake up and have the courage to give this world a contemporary, modern, useful, world-wide, global philosophy allowing us to enter with confidence into the coming new age, new century and millennium?

My Testament to the UN
-A Contribution to the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, 1995, Chapter 8

I will cease defending the UN only when I am offered a better world institution. Would a surgeon give up the use of his imperfect scalpel before he is offered a better tool?

Once the scalpel has been replaced, I would put the old one aside with gratitude, and give all my heart to the new one.

What we must really care for is the health and well being of our good Earth and humanity, and devise the best instruments for that.

Teaching children the language of Music

Mission & Philosophy

The Children's Orchestra Society is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to "teaching the language of music" to children and teens. COS's mission is to cultivate and nurture children and teach them teamwork and life skills through music-learning and performing in orchestral and chamber music settings. COS provides excellent training in classical music and gives its members performing opportunities in concerts with their peers as well as with well-established musicians.

Unique to COS is its child-centered approach to teaching. COS believes in a child's innate capacity to learn and develop their musical talent to the highest level when nurtured in a friendly, supportive and cooperative environment. The purpose at COS is not to produce professional musicians, but to instill each member with the invaluable experience and individual benefits of music making by:

  • fostering a supportive learning environment
  • creating performing opportunities
  • providing role models and a bridge to the professional world through master classes and performance collaborations with eminent musicians
  • enriching and involving the community through performances for civic and cultural groups

COS is also committed to keeping its programs accessible to the broadest range of families. While acceptance is on the basis of an audition, COS accepts students of various levels and offers a wide range of programs suitable for students from beginners to the most gifted. Fees are kept far below the actual costs of operation, and scholarships are available for exceptional young musicians needing financial assistance.

Abraham Lincoln said, “Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be,” and Robert Muller agrees emphatically, adding, “Happiness is a decision.”

At 83, Muller is retired from his work as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, but more >>
