Idea Dream |
~ Idea 6326 ~ In a Saturday morning open market in Santa Barbara I saw a table where a couple was handing out papers about Dennis Kucinich and soliciting signatures supporting him. He should indeed be made a new United States and world hero. * |

Please give others the courage and excitement to go on dreaming their dreams, having their ideals and seeing visions. The inspiration of a few can change the world. It has always been the case. * |
My Testament to the UN -A Contribution to the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, 1995, Chapter 10 |
There are several more good things and dates to come: 1992: - The second UN world conference on the environment and development at the summit level in Brazil; - The five hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America; - The International Year of Space; together with the conference on the environment, this will make 1992 the first cosmic year in human history, namely an attempt at a total, comprehensive appraisal of our place in the universe and of our planetary habitat;
1993: - The abolition of borders in Western Europe and the entry into force of the political European Community; - The second World Parliament of Religions, 100 years after the first one in Chicago in 1983; - The International Year of the World's Indigenous People; - The second World Conference on Human rights in Vienna; 1994: - The International Year of the Family; 1995: - The historical fiftieth anniversary of the UN, a unique occasion for a fundamental rethinking and strengthening of the UN on the eve of the Bimillennium. It should be pro¬claimed Year of the Family of Nations; - The fourth World Conference on Women; 1996: - The return of Hong Kong to China. This year should be proclaimed International year or Prevention. The world is too much geared at healing, repairing and resolving rather than preventing sicknesses, accidents, disasters, conflicts and environmental deterioration. World policies and peoples' attitudes must be shifted to prevention; 1997: - This year is still free. I would recommend a second World Youth Conference be held, twelve years after the first one in 1985, to allow the youth of today to express its wishes, visions, ideas and ideals for the 21st century and the third millennium which will be theirs; 1998: - The fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; 1999:- The hundredth anniversary of the first World Peace Con¬gress in The Hague; - The entry into force of the new Panama Canal Treaty;
2000: - The celebration of the Bimillennium and our entry into the third millennium; * |

What we know about individuals, no matter how rich the details, will never give us the ability to predict how they will behave as a system. Once individuals link together they become something different ... Relationships change us, reveal us, evoke more from us. Only when we join with others do our gifts become visible, even to ourselves. --Margaret Wheatley and Myron Kellner-Rogers - Daily Good a service of CharityFocus |
