Many years ago in I got the UN to adopt a red traffic signal crossed by a white horizontal line meaning 'do not enter'. It is used in many countries of the world.
Seeing it in the United States I am almost tempted to suggest that there should also be signs 'Do not buy excessively', 'Do not build excessively', 'Do not drive excessively'!
