In a few years or decades humanity will be seized by a major revolution for the following reasons:
Between now and the year 2050 the affluent countries will lose 40 million people and the poor countries will gain 3 billion. The effects will be the following:
- many people of the affluent countries will be richer than today due to their increasing inheritances, savings and material and financial ownings and shares in a richer society.
- many people of the poor, increasingly populated countries will remain poor and possibly become poorer due to their multiplication in increasingly poor societies. They will also import and consume highly advertised goods from the rich countries, for example soft drinks. They will have no savings for their numerous children. The situation might become so miserable, so hopeless that their youth will see no other way than a revolution. They will invade by force the rich countries if they are not allowed to immigrate.
Perhaps the recent increase of terrorism is the beginning of that revolution. The attacks against the US World Trade Center and the Pentagon were perhaps the opening of it.
Among the measures, which can reduce this new world danger, the UN should urgently convene a World Emergency Population Conference. Another is a new, immediate World Marshall Plan, as recommended by the Club of Budapest. Larger immigrations to the rich countries are not very satisfactory because the poor immigrants will get the poorest paid jobs and will remain poor for quite some time inside these countries.
