Comments from persons who receive my Good Morning World messages (they give no name):

Thank you for the gentle reminder never to be negative.

I've usually been dumbfounded when people bring up negative questions, whether through innocence or malicious posing of mere questions. All to often I see this in public meetings that could be focused on nurturing a better city and region. I seldom can figure out how to respond that doesn't get caught up in all the negative and endless talk, talk of pointing fingers, blame, looking backward to the past (and not to a better future) and all the rest.

Perhaps there is no need to respond to negative and instead to refocus on dreams and ideas for the better, nothing less. If people want to state their dreams and idea for better, then there may be some thing that can be responded to. Until then, there are so many other positive and useful things to do.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume II Chapter 11 Of Power, Wealth & Glory
I want to die not with a huge fortune, not with huge laurels, not with a huge notoriety, but remembered and loved by many of my fellow humans. I wish to be an inspiration to the young and to the people of tomorrow. This is my greatest guarantee not to die.

Look who is still best remembered by humankind and who has still the largest numbers of followers. Is it politicians? No. Is it conquerors? No. Is it rich people? No. Is it scientists? No. But remembered are Jesus, philosophers, religious prophets, great visionaries, saints and artists. This should give you a clue as to the permanent human values.

The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what to hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. - Barbara Kingsolver

Barbara Kingsolver's latest book: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life - her first nonfiction narrative that will open your eyes in a hundred new ways to an old truth: You are what you eat.

"As the U.S. population made an unprecedented mad dash for the Sun Belt, one carload of us paddled against the tide, heading for the Promised Land where water falls from the sky and green stuff grows all around. We were about to begin the adventure of realigning our lives with our food chain.

Hang on for the ride: With characteristic poetry and pluck, Barbara Kingsolver and her family sweep readers along on their journey away from the industrial-food pipeline to a rural life in which they vow to buy only food raised in their own neighborhood, grow it themselves, or learn to live without it. Their good-humored search yields surprising discoveries about turkey sex life and overly zealous zucchini plants, en route to a food culture that's better for the neighborhood and also better on the table. Part memoir, part journalistic investigation, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle makes a passionate case for putting the kitchen back at the center of family life and diversified farms at the center of the American diet.

"This is the story of a year in which we made every attempt to feed ourselves animals and vegetables whose provenance we really knew . . . and of how our family was changed by our first year of deliberately eating food produced from the same place where we worked, went to school, loved our neighbors, drank the water, and breathed the air."
